Community projects listed here are independently created and maintained by their respective authors. Unless explicitly marked as a first-party GitHub project, they are not reviewed, nor endorsed, nor supported by GitHub. Review their source code before installation and use at your own discretion.

Community projects that extend, visualize, or build on Spec Kit:

  • Project Room — An open-source Mac app that shows Spec Kit plans and task progress alongside the same repository's local services, tests, APIs, MCP servers, and data. Developers keep coding in their usual editor while Project Room makes the running app inspectable and controllable.

  • cc-spex — A Claude Code plugin that adds composable traits on top of Spec Kit with Superpowers-based quality gates, spec/code review, git worktree isolation, and parallel implementation via agent teams.

  • VS Code Spec Kit Assistant — A VS Code extension that provides a visual orchestrator for the full SDD workflow (constitution → specification → planning → tasks → implementation) with phase status visualization, an interactive task checklist, DAG visualization, and support for Claude, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, and OpenAI backends. Requires the specify CLI in your PATH.

  • SpecKit Assistant — A visual orchestrator for Spec-Driven Development (SDD). It connects your local specification, planning, and task checklists with AI agents (Claude, Gemini, GitHub Copilot). No global installation required — just run it via npx speckit-assistant.

  • SpecKit Companion — A VS Code extension that brings a visual GUI to Spec Kit. Browse specs in a rich markdown viewer with clickable file references, create specifications with image attachments, comment and refine each step inline (GitHub-style review), track your progress through the SDD workflow with a visual phase stepper, and manage steering documents like constitutions and templates.

  • cc-spec-kit — Community-maintained plugin for Claude Code and GitHub Copilot CLI that installs Spec Kit skills via the plugin marketplace.

  • spectatui — A terminal UI (TUI) dashboard for Spec Kit that lets you track features, manage specifications, integrations, presets, workflows, and extensions, and monitor AI agent workflows. Attach to existing AI sessions or launch new ones from your terminal. Keyboard and mouse support. Light/dark theme support. Customizable and performance-oriented. Requires the specify CLI in your PATH.

  • spec-kit-copilot — First-party GitHub project. A GitHub Copilot skills plugin that exposes the Spec Kit specify CLI to the Copilot agent in both the Copilot CLI and the GitHub Copilot app. It provides a focused skill per specify command group — setup, init, check, extensions, presets, bundles, workflows, workflow steps, and self-upgrade — so you can navigate and drive the entire Spec Kit ecosystem through natural language, letting Copilot decide when and how to run the right specify commands on your behalf.

  • Spec Kit Workflow Cockpit — A terminal control panel for running Spec Kit workflows locally. It replaces the fragmented CLI flow with a single live view: see the whole workflow at a glance, follow progress node by node, read and edit feature documents at human review gates without leaving the terminal, and make gate decisions from clearly presented options with confirmation. It also provides a cockpit-run-context skill that connects your interactive coding session directly to the current workflow run.

  • Specstride — A standalone implementation orchestrator that consumes a Spec Kit feature's tasks.md and uses its spec.md, plan.md, and contracts as read-only context. It runs a coding agent (Claude Code, Codex, or a local model) through the task phases one at a time. Each phase advances only when a separate LLM critic approves its evidence against the acceptance criteria and the code. Stuck phases get a diagnostician and a narrowed retry. An opt-in loop learns per-phase settings from run telemetry and reverts any change that makes things worse.

  • Raaghu Spec Kit — Raaghu Spec Kit brings specification-driven development into Azure DevOps. PMs, BAs, and QAs can generate, review, and manage structured specs, delivery plans, task breakdowns, and quality checklists — then create and refine Azure Boards work items — all from a guided AI workspace inside your project. Works with Azure DevOps Services and Azure DevOps Server (on-premises).

  • Entalpa — A hosted web app that reads specs/<feature>/spec.md and tasks.md from a public GitHub repository, or from a private one uploaded as a zip or a folder, and folds the features into one current backlog: user stories, FR-/SC- requirements linked to them with statuses from tasks.md, and clarifications as answered questions. A later feature revises the story it changes instead of adding a copy. Viewing the result needs no account; keeping or editing it does. An upload is read in the browser, and only those spec files, with their paths and the zip or folder name, are sent; either way, folding sends the specs to third-party AI providers. Exports back to a specs/ feature.
